There is a wide range of reports available in this month's update of the Digital Insurance Library, but we’ll start with a look at life insurance. This report laments that this is a dying industry and wonders if tech – and InsurTech in particular – is going to be able to save it. 

Cyber insurance is a hot topic, but this fascinating paper highlights all that is both good and bad about the market. Ignorance, poor communications and a lack of standardisation make the purchase something of a lottery. Regulation may shape this in the future, but while the industry needs to do more to improve its service, businesses need to understand the cover they have and what they actually need. 

There are two papers that look at the use of blockchain in healthcare. It seems like a no-brainer, but both reports highlight the cultural problems that have dogged tech implementation in the past. These must be addressed if blockchain is going to successfully resolve some of the inefficiencies in this sector. 

Two of the papers do some crystal ball-gazing. One looks into the future of insurance in 2025, the other at where the claims experience and process could have reached by 2030. Only time will tell if they are right, but we know those that haven’t achieved these goals will have been left behind by these dates. 

Finally, we have some fascinating insight into the healthcare industry. Not about the use of tech directly, but the role women play in the sector now, and how it will continue to provide women with a rewarding and flexible career path in the future.
